Open this in Magpie

Hiring is marked Coming soon. Only Magpie administrators can access it.

Open Hiring → Jobs and select New job. Enter a job title. Magpie creates the job as a draft and opens its page. Everything else on that page saves as you edit it.

Job details

The job page holds the description, requirements, department, location, workplace (on-site, hybrid or remote), employment type, salary range, number of openings, hiring manager, closing date and internal notes. The description and requirements accept Markdown. Applicants see the description, requirements, location, workplace, employment type, salary and closing date. Internal notes are only visible to the team.

The hiring manager receives an email when someone applies. A new job's hiring manager is the person who created it.

Status

Status Job page Listed on the job board
Draft Not available. Use Preview job page to see it. No
Open Accepts applications Yes
Paused Shows that it is not accepting applications No
Closed or Filled Shows that it is no longer accepting applications No
Archived Not available No

A job needs a description before it can be opened. An open job stops accepting applications after the end of its closing date. Marking a candidate hired does not change the job's status. When every opening is filled, Magpie says so, and you can change the status to Filled.

Addresses

Each team has one job board at /jobs/<team address>. Magpie creates it from the team name with the first job. Each job page is at /jobs/<team address>/<job>, created from the job title. Neither address changes later, including when the title changes. The job board address lists every open job. Select an address on the job page or in Hiring to copy it.

After you open or reopen a job, its page shows the job address and the job board address, each with Copy and a link to view it. To list your open jobs on another website, link to the job board address.

Job pages carry a title and description for sharing. A job page that accepts applications also carries job information that search engines read for job search: the title, description, requirements, employment type, location, remote work, salary and closing date, where the job has them. A paused, closed or filled job's page does not. While Hiring is Coming soon, its public pages are open only to Magpie administrators, so search engines cannot read them.
